Nevertheless, we were able to obtain settlements totaling nearly One Million Dollars. EMINENT DOMAIN (Condemnation) Government offered our client less than $9,000 to acquire land to widen a roadway. After Damus was hired, the offer increased to more than $200,000. But we recommended litigation which resulted in a settlement well in excess of a Million Dollars. GOVERNMENT CONSOLIDATION A successful taxpayer suit against the City and County forever unwound a Rube Goldberg-like consolidation for the benefit of the public. PARTNERSHIP LITIGATION When one partner was alleged to take personal advantage of partnership opportunities and excluded the other partner, our firm obtained a jury verdict in excess of one million dollars. ELECTION GERRYMANDERING Public interest lawsuit successfully brought which caused a special election of all County Commissioners. BREACH OF CONTRACT New business had its contract allegedly breached by Big Bank. Even though the client had virtually no operating history such that damages were difficult to prove, our office, working with retained experts, obtained a settlement in excess of a million dollars. SPOUSAL SUPPORT/DAMAGE AWARD With prior counsel, client was saddled with spousal support of $180,000 per year and divorce damage awards in excess of One Million Dollars. Damus went back to court and reduced the support by 94% and obtained a discharge in bankruptcy for the damage awards. BANKRUPTCY Damus & Associates recently won a test case which allowed Bankruptcy debtors to realize all the benefits of a home for which they did not complete the purchase prior to bankruptcy.
