Mr. Damus has been engaged in the private practice of law for more than 40 years with an emphasis in Estate Planning, Corporate and Business law, Eminent Domain, Real Estate, Bankruptcy, Probate, Transactional law and Litigation.
Mr. Damus has had extensive trial experience and has obtained Million Dollar plus judgments and settlements in several complex cases. He has acted as key counsel in complex, multi-party business and tort litigation as well as major public interest litigation.
Mr. Damus has a reputation for tenacious representation of his clients and has a proven winning record with more than 90% of his cases prosecuted to a favorable judgment or settlement. Mr. Damus also acted as key counsel in several large multi-party construction defect cases as well as complex mass disaster tort cases. He has experience in Mergers and acquisitions, both large and small.
Mr. Damus has a record of successful Mediation, Arbitration and settlement and has also acted as Special Prosecutor in politically sensitive criminal matters. He has served as an Expert Witness in real property litigation and has been published and served as a legal education instructor in Real Estate Law and Investments.
Mr.Damus has a reputation for practical lawyering, with sensitivity to costs and realistic goals. A Las Vegas resident since 1955, he enjoys and employs a strong network of business connections throughout the state of Nevada to benefit and protect his client's interests.
Mr. Damus has drafted complex statutes which were adopted by the Nevada Legislature and innovated, organized and coordinated pilot Credit Union Service Organizations (CUSO's) and assisted in writing regulations adopted by the
National Credit Union Association (NCUA).Mr. Damus holds a Doctorate Degree from the
University of Pacific McGeorge School of Law where he was a scholarship recipient, winner of theAmerican Jurisprudence Award, member of the Traynor Honor Society and was awarded the Best Brief in moot court. Mr. Damus received his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from
UNLV, where he was on the honor roll and served as a teacher's assistant.
Mr. Damus was admitted to practice before the
Supreme Court of Nevada in 1974, The United States District Court in 1974 and the
Gaming Control Board in 1975. He is a member of the
